Forli

3160-B Danville Boulevard (Stone Valley Shopping Center), Alamo     MapIt!
(510) 820-1711
$$/L Mon-Fri/D daily/W

Forli is unabashedly "Continental" at a time when the culinary tide is running to regional this or that. Continental here means mostly Northern Italian, with a strong showing of all types of pasta and classic sautéed dishes like veal scaloppini and veal piccata. Dessert means an assortment of gelati as well as tiramisu, crème brûlée, crème caramel, and bread pudding.--Diablo

Savoy at the Boundary Oak

3800 Valley Vista Road, Walnut Creek     MapIt!
(510) 935-8121
$-$$/L Mon-Fri/D Tues-Sun/B Sun/W

The original Savoy in Pleasant Hill fell to the Caltrans axe during the endless rebuilding of I-680, but the restaurant's reincarnation at this country club on the northern slope of Mount Diablo somehow maintains much of the feel of the original. The menu is Continental, the view spectacular from the west-facing plate-glass windows. Early diners can sometimes catch a colorful sunset from the tiered dining room.--Diablo
