RE: Winter Surf Warning!

Attention Yahoo SF Bay users: Winter has arrived. Please place all hard-tops on convertibles. Prepare for another championship year for the 49ers. Make immediate plans to go to a warm (or snow-filled) climate. Remove all shorts, tank tops and bathing suits immediately and place in a moth-free zone (preferably an attic). Obtain emergency hot chocolate - if you are with a child, drink your hot chocolate first before attempting to help a child with his. Wax your skis and/or snowboard before proceeding further. Review emergency umbrella operation. Smile at least once a week. Approach with caution anything that even looks like fruitcake.

Despite any rumors you may have heard, you may continue to surf. When Web pages freeze, it has nothing to do with the weather. We have prepared the following guide to help you surf safely this winter. Please review all guidelines. There will be a quiz.

Get Outta Town!
The first thing you gotta do this winter is make plans to get out of here! The rainy season is upon us, traffic is a nightmare, and the kids are back from school. If you've got the time, why not hit the slopes? If you're not into cold, hop on a plane or get an agent to set it all up for you (we'll even show you how to get to the airport). Don't have the time or the cash? Take a weekend trip.
Find A New Passion
These long winter months are the perfect time to learn a new skill or rediscover that old passion. Wanna dust off that old guitar? You recycle, but have you ever really wanted to help protect our environment? Has Bruce Lee ever been a hero to you? Taken a ride on a chopper or a Harley lately? Ever coached a kid's sports league? Time to learn a dance besides the Macarena? Wanna fly a plane? Maybe just meet someone special?
Discover Local Treasures
Whether you keep up with the latest news or not, there's tons of new things to do around the Bay. We've got over 60 museums and galleries, tons of organizations, over 40 theatres, and over a hundreds literature links, not to mention a few six-packs worth of brewpubs. Now's a great time to see the wonderful points of interest that are crammed with tourists during the summer. You don't need to travel far - take a peek at all that's going on in your city or San Francisco neighborhood.
Make That New Homepage
We're well over 1,000 personal Web pages - where's yours? The Bay has always been a haven to cyberculture - it's time to leave your mark.
Improve Your Life
Happy with life the way it is? Maybe Yahoo can show you a few ways to make your life even easier:
Stay Home And Chat!
Lastly, we've just put up a pre-release version of our new Yahoo Chat on the SF Bay site. So click on the coffee cup and engage in real-time conversations with people from the Bay Area and beyond!

Good luck.

The Chief
